Forensic Science has become one of the most influential disciplines within the criminal justice system. The credibility of forensic science depends not only on the accuracy of laboratory methods but also on the ethical conduct of the professionals who apply them. Ethics refer to the moral principles and professional standards that govern an individual’s conduct. In forensic science, ethics provide a framework, the rules and regulations to be followed while taking decisions that are accurate, required, morally responsible and legally sound. Ethics form the foundation upon which forensic science operates. Balancing scientific rigor with ethical responsibility is essential to ensuring that forensic science serves its ultimate purpose of serving truth and justice.

The interpretation of results should be based on investigations and not theories. Evidences must be analyzed scientifically rather than assuming.
3. IMPARTIALITY
The forensic experts are required to remain neutral throughout investigations. They are supposed to present factual scientific findings regardless of which party benefits. They also testify for both prosecution and defense to assist in court procedures. Make sure to avoid advocacy for either prosecutors or defenses.
4. CONFIDENTIALITY
Forensic officers must ensure that confidential information is shared only with authorized individuals and protect from information breech and disclosure.
5. ACCOUNTABILITY
Forensic professionals must accept responsibility for their work. Every evidence requires a separate and well detailed chain of custody. This ensures transparency.
6. PROFFESIONAL COMPETANCE
Forensic scientists should maintain knowledge and be updates with trends going on. They should continuously participate in continuing education and use calibrated equipment. They should not perform analyses beyond their area of expertise.
7. HONESTY
This is the ethical practice of reporting all observations accurately without bias, including limitations, uncertainties, and alternative interpretations. It also means to avoid selective reporting or exaggerating the strength of forensic evidence. If any limitation of the evidence come to light, report it honestly.

1. EVIDENCE CONTAMINATION
Improper handling can contaminate the evidence and destroy its integrity and value. Strict evidence handling protocols and maintaining a chain of custody helps to minimize these risks. This occurs due to various reasons like improper packaging, failure to wear gloves, cross contamination, incorrect storing and preservation, and poor laboratory practices.
2. FABRICATION OR FALSIFICATION OF EVIDENCE
Deliberately altering results, reports and fabricating evidence. Actions like this lead to wrongful convictions and criminal prosecution. This represents sever scientific misconduct.
3. PRIVACY
Balancing investigation while maintaining privacy of the case remains a challenge. Including multiple personals and media can cause issues.

While testifying in court, experts should:
Explain the methods and results clearly
Remain neutral during cross examination and avoid biased answers.
Present the findings with accurate and supportive conclusions
Expert witnesses should educate the court and not advocate for either side.
